Place Setting Pieces: Spoons

The dinner spoon is the traditional oval soup spoon and tends to be more popular. It is identical to the dessert spoon just larger.

The round bowl soup spoon was considered a rather vulgar invention in the early 1900's and is usually smaller than the dinner spoon. Some people also refer to this as a cream soup spoon. They can be hard to find as they were discontinued in most patterns.

The large teaspoon is the most popular and is considered a regular size here, but large by European standards. Some clients use this with the pastry fork for dessert. You will probably find a range of different sized teaspoons and coffee spoons in most patterns.

Many other spoons exist such as long handled, iced tea spoons, grapefruit spoons, sorbet spoons, but these are less in demand.
