Finest of Silversmiths: Georg Jensen of Denmark
It is perhaps fortunate to the world of fine silver that Georg Jensen of Denmark could not make a comfortable income as a professional sculptor and ceramics artist, and decided to use his own small amount of capital to open a silversmith’s shop of his own in 1904. Relying on his training and background in the fine arts, Georg Jensen would become a Denmark personality, well-known for the artistry and the incredible workmanship and quality of the silver pieces created in his studios. In less than twenty years, he had expanded operations to several other major European cities, including a studio in New York.
