What is a Georg Jensen Brooch?

You may know Georg Jensen as a name famous in silverware design. However, what is the significance of a Georg Jensen brooch? A brooch is a decorative jewelry item that is intended to be attached to clothing and apparel. It is traditionally made out of metal, silver or gold, though bronze and other rich materials have been used. Luxurious brooches may also feature gemstones or enamel for additional decor. Brooches are usually designed for ornamentation; however some actually have practical uses like fastening a cloak. (Assuming your event requires you to show up in a cloak) A Georg Jensen brooch is considered a luxury piece and it’s not uncommon to see small brooches sell for hundreds of dollars. Many brooches you will find online are actually from the early 1900’s era, as Jensen himself died in 1935 leaving behind a solid legacy.
