What is the Significance of a Georg Jensen Brooch?

A Georg Jensen brooch is significant because of its name. Georg Jensen was a silversmith who began his training at the age of 14. Ever since his youth the man dreamt of becoming a recognized sculptor. As he continued his education, eventually graduating the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, he began to pursue art. He struggled to make a living at art and eventually settled on pursuing porcelain art and pottery. Mainstream success evaded him, at least until he met Mogens Ballin who helped hone his skills in silversmithing. Eventually Georg Jensen found great success by combining his imagination with the skill of silversmithing to create his own brand of modern silverware. Even today his works, including the Georg Jensen brooch, is renowned as a high piece of art.
