Who Is Georg Jensen? Part 1

Who or what is Georg Jensen and why is the name closely associated with silver flatware? Georg Jensen was a Danish silversmith and the son of a knife grinder in the town of Raadvad. Georg Jensen first began training for goldsmithing at age 14. From a young age Georg Jensen dreamed of being a sculptor and continued his education, all the way to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, which he graduated in 1892. He began showing his work but struggled to make a living as an artist. He turned his attention to the applied arts, including porcelain and pottery, but still struggled to find success.
